Railway Metrics and Dynamics completes the first serial delivery of PMU:C under previously awarded contract with the Swedish Transport Administration
Today, Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD) completed its first installation of the company’s GPS-based positioning solution, PMU:C, on the Swedish Transport Administration’s measurement vehicle. The installation is carried out within the framework of the framework agreement signed following a previously awarded procurement for precision positioning services.
PMU:C is an onboard computer with multiple functions, and through this installation the Swedish Transport Administration gains access to these capabilities. This includes, among other features, a continuous real-time view of trains’ exact positions by combining satellite positioning with predictive calculations that compensate for signal loss, for example in tunnels.
By registering position, speed, and movement patterns, the system can also provide early indications of track subsidence and other infrastructure issues, as well as improve disruption management and capacity utilization.
Improved positioning for emergency response
The information is transmitted directly to the Swedish Transport Administration’s systems and is also shared with SOS Alarm and emergency services to enable faster response in the event of accidents. The service includes remote monitoring, automatic updates, and alarm management, ensuring high availability and reducing manual work.
